Frequently Asked Questions About Kava

What is kava?
Kava (Piper methysticum) is a traditional Pacific Island beverage made from the root of the kava plant. It has been used ceremonially and socially for thousands of years throughout Pacific Island cultures. The active compounds in kava, called kavalactones, are known for their relaxing and calming effects.

What does kava feel like?
Most people experience a sense of relaxation, mental clarity, and mild euphoria. Kava can help reduce anxiety and stress while maintaining mental alertness. Effects typically begin within 15-30 minutes and can last for several hours.

Is kava safe?
Kava has been safely consumed for thousands of years in Pacific Island cultures. However, like any substance, it should be consumed responsibly. We recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before trying kava, especially if you have any medical conditions or take medications.

Is kava addicting?
Unlike alcohol or certain pharmaceuticals, kava is not considered chemically addictive. It does not create dependence or withdrawal symptoms in most users. However, as with any enjoyable substance, habitual overuse can develop. We encourage responsible consumption and moderation.

About Kratom

Do you sell kratom?
No, we do not sell kratom and do not support its use.

Why don’t you sell kratom?
Our focus is on providing safe, traditional, and culturally respected herbal beverages, and we believe in the long-standing traditions of kava. Unlike kava, kratom is not traditionally used in the same way, and there are concerns about its safety, regulatory status, and potential for dependence.

Is kratom safe?
There is ongoing debate about kratom’s safety. While some people use it for pain relief or energy, it has not been FDA-approved, and studies suggest potential risks, including liver toxicity, addiction, and adverse interactions with medications. We encourage individuals to research thoroughly and consult with healthcare professionals before using it.

Is kratom addicting?
Yes, kratom has been linked to dependence and withdrawal symptoms, similar to opioids in high or frequent doses. This is one of the reasons we do not offer or promote kratom.
